It all started when a gallant young man named Joeli Concepción arrived to visit my sister Lianabel. Nervous but confident, Joeli got down on one knee and asked Lianabel to be his wife. With an emphatic “YES” he put the ring on her finger on Christmas day 2 years after they started dating. Then, on December 27th, 2016 my sister had started asking me questions via text message about a recent wedding that I had coordinated. Something about that seemed a bit strange so I asked her, “did he give you a ring?” A few seconds later I received a message with the photo of her engagement ring. From that moment, we began planning for her big day.
As sisters, Lianabel and I have always talked about her wedding. She is the youngest of our household with 6 sisters, 3 brothers, my mother Delia Sanchez and my late stepfather Armando Robles. Whoa, What a brood! But the baby of the house is getting married and we couldn’t be more excited!
I remember the first day I met with them as an engaged couple. I met with both of them, told them to get in my car and we were off! We started by creating a budget and separating a wedding date and letting them know the importance of enjoying the planning process and that all we were doing now will benefit them on their wedding day. I spoke to them just like I would with any other client, even though she is my baby sister.
The planning process had been filed with many emotions for everyone in my family, including our mother! I have enjoyed so much planning this wedding with Lianabel, both as a planner and as a sister. My greatest desire is that their wedding comes out exactly as they envision it and more. They have always dreamt of having a tropical wedding where they can enjoy the food, history and of course some mojitos with their favorite people. Luckily, they found all of that with their chosen Georgina’s Restaurant Located on the grounds of the Bacardi Distillery. The happy couple have decided to have an intimate family celebration their union of love.
To have a little pre-wedding fun, I told my sister we should have a photoshoot just the two of us. She said “of course, let’s to it!” SO being the person that I am, I didn’t waste any time setting it up with Andel Photography to have a little fun in his studio. We had lots of fun and laughed the whole day, we looked like we little girls having fun at a slumber party.
Here’s what the future bride has to say…
“I always dreamt of getting married. I believe it’s part of many women. When it was time to tell my sister that I was getting married and that I wanted her to be my planner we got together and created a plan. But when the day finally came to start planning my own wedding, I couldn’t make any decision because I liked everything! I loved all the colors and all the decorations. And just when I thought I had made a decision, Hayxanair had a better option for me. Working with her on my wedding has been a blessing, and not just because she is my sister. Because when it comes to planning and creating budgets, it is best to leave it to the experts. This whole process has allowed us to create a deeper bond. We lived through so many emotions, we have talked almost every single day and about everything. From the venue to the dress, she was always there for me. While the big day if coming fast, I close my eyes and daydream about how wonderful the day will be – from the ceremony, to the décor and of who I will look in my dress. I am grateful for having Hayxanair in my life and that she is my wedding planner.”
